Projects at MR&D Institute s.r.l.
Wireless Video Entry System This project goal is the development of a mesh based, wireless, video entry system. The hardware is based on an ARM CPU core and it is run by a suitable version of linux.
I worked as a lead programmer defining activities and coordinating with hardware designers. I devised and implemented a number of tests to assess the effectiveness of wifi technology for real time communication.
I designed and developed the signaling and communication application, based on MPEG4/H263 video encoding, RTP streaming and custom signaling protocol.

Home Automation Video Control Panel This panel is the core for Home Automation control. It provides the user with full access to home appliances and remote access via web brower.
I contributed to the architecture and to coordination of consultants. Also I devised an automated test for manufacturing QA.

Internet Gateway for Home Automation This is a small box that hooks to an ethernet network, an EIB bus and optionally to a phone line to provide remote control (either via internet or phone call) to the EIB system. I worked porting the linux kernel to the custom ARM board and designed the software that enables the access and control.

Automotive device for Smart Insurance is a Wavecom based gizmo connected to car diagnostic bus port and equipped with GSM connectivity and a GPS receiver. I wrote a layer to ease the porting of the existing application from Java to C on OpenAT and then converted the whole Java application. Also I wrote a simulator to speed up testing and debugging.
